Renovating our Victorian terrace house, one DIY project at a time
We have just about completed the renovation of our first home, a two-up-two-down Victorian Terrace in York. It has taken longer than we thought, cost more than we thought and caused a lot more arguments than we thought…but we have learned so much more than we could ever have possibly imagined.

We’ll be going back through everything, in detail, sharing our experiences, mistakes, insider tips and how-to guides. Hopefully we’ll inspire a few of you, save some of you a bit of money and if all else fails, hopefully we’ll make you laugh at some of the disasters we have had!
We have been also running an Instagram account alongside our project for the past year and a half, sharing our progress in hundreds of pictures. You can find us here, or at the bottom of the page.
Well here we go… If there is anything you’d like to read about, or if you have any questions, feel free to email us at hello@afootontheladder.com

How we chose our house
I have already said that when we were house hunting we found the perfect house...and then bought the house two doors down. "Why?" you may well wonder. Well, here is how that happened... We approached house hunting in a very haphazard manner! This is not recommended by...
