We’re Craig and Casey. We are in our mid 20’s and are on the cusp of owning our very own first home…how exciting!
We met 7 years ago at university in London. We’ve made it through 4 years of university, one year of studying abroad, 2 years of law school and almost 3 years of living with parents…but this is going to be our toughest (but by far the most exciting) challenge yet.
We wanted a project for our first home. Something we could put our own stamp on, and something that we could add value to.
After months of pouring over the likes of Rightmove and Zoopla the perfect property came up. It was within budget, a good size, and didn’t need too much doing to get it to what we wanted – perfect! For reasons we will explain later we ended up buying the house 2 doors down! It needs a lot more work but we’re up for the challenge!
We’ll be doing a lot of the work ourselves with the help of our very kind family and friends. We both have full time jobs so most of the work will be carried out on evenings and weekends.
We’ll be sharing everything we learn along the way – the good, the bad and the ugly! From saving up for a deposit, to house hunting, to finding (and securing) our first mortgage, to renovating the place on our (now very tiny) budget. We’ll let you know what worked for us, and the things that (inevitably) go wrong.
